Dua for entering masjid in Arabic.
Theirs two dua for entering masjid and you could recite any one of them.
أَعوذُ بِاللّهِ العَظِيـمِ، وَبِوَجْهِـهِ الكَرِيـمِ وَسُلْطـَانِه القَدِيـمِ، مِنَ الشَّيْـطَانِ الرَّجِـيمِ، [ بِسْـمِ اللّهِ وَالصَّلَاةُ ] [وَالسَّلامُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللّهِ]، اَللَّهُـمَّ افْتَـحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتـِكَ.
Transliteration:
aAAoothu billahil-AAatheem wabiwajhihil-kareem wasultanihil-qadeem minash-shaytanir-rajeem, [bismil-lah, wassalatu] [wassalamu AAala rasoolil-lah] , allahumma iftah lee abwaba rahmatik.
Translation:
I take refuge with Allah, The Supreme and with His Noble Face, and His eternal authority from the accursed devil. In the name of Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open the gates of Your mercy for me.
اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
Transliteration:
“allaahum-maf taḥ lee abwaaba raḥmatik”.
Translation:
“O Allah, open the gates of Your mercy for me.”
Dua for entering the masjid and leaving.
When leaving the Mosque recite the dua for leaving masjid as follows:
بِسْمِ اللهِ، وَالصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَّامُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إَنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ، اللَّهُمَّ اعصِمْنِي مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
Transliteration
Bismillaahi wassalaatu wassalaamu ‘alaa Rasoolillaahi, Allaahumma ‘innee ‘as’aluka min fadhlika, Allaahumma’simnee minash-Shaytaanir-rajeem.
Translation
In the Name of Allah, peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, I ask for Your favor, O Allah, protect me from Satan the outcast.
And when entering the Masjid recite one of the two Duas we mentioned above.
Dua for going to Masjid.
اللّهُـمَّ اجْعَـلْ في قَلْبـي نورا ، وَفي لِسـاني نورا، وَاجْعَـلْ في سَمْعي نورا، وَاجْعَـلْ في بَصَري نورا، وَاجْعَـلْ مِنْ خَلْفي نورا، وَمِنْ أَمامـي نورا، وَاجْعَـلْ مِنْ فَوْقـي نورا ، وَمِن تَحْتـي نورا.اللّهُـمَّ أَعْطِنـي نورا.
Transliteration
Allaahummaj’al fee qalbee nooran, wa fee lisaaanee nooran, wa fee sam’ee nooran, wa fee basaree nooran, wa min fawqee nooran, wa min tahtee nooran, wa ‘an yameenee nooran, wa ‘an shimaalee nooran, wa min ‘amaamee nooran, wa min khalfee nooran, waj’alfee nafsee nooran, wa ‘a’dhim lee nooran, wa ‘adhdhim lee nooran, wafal lee nooran, waj’alnee nooran, Allaahumma ‘a’tinee nooran, waj’al fee ‘asabee nooran, wafee lahmee nooran, wafee damee nooran, wa fee sha’ree nooran, wa fee basharee nooran.
Translation
O Allah, place light in my heart, and on my tongue light, and in my ears light and in my sight light, and above me light, and below me light, and to my right light, and to my left light, and before me light and behind me light. Place in my soul light. Magnify for me light, and amplify for me light. Make for me light and make me a light. O Allah, grant me light and place light in my nerves, and in my body light and in my blood light and in my hair light, and in my skin light.
Tahiyatul Masjid prayer.
When you enter the Mosque, you should recite the dua for enter masjid first then offer the Masjid prayer. It’s not obligatory but it’s a sunnah, and we should try our best to follow the sunnah of our beloved prophet (peace and blessing be upon him).
The prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said: “Let one of you pray two units of prayer when s/he enters a mosque before sitting down!”
Here’s how to pray Tahiyatul Masjid prayer:
- Make your intention to pray two Rakat Tahiyatul Masjid salah as follows:
In Arabic:
أُصَلِّي سُنَّةَ تَحِيَّةَ الْمَسْجِدِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةِ لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى اللهُ أَكْبَرُ
In English:
I intend to do the sunnah prayer (which is recommended), Tahiyatul Masjid prayer, as many as two Rakats, by facing the Qibla, because Allah Taala. Allah is the Greatest.
- Say Takbir: it is the act of standing, raising your hands at shoulder level, and saying Allahu Akbar (“God is great”). Then put your right hand on top of your left hand across the chest and recite surah al-Fatiha and another small surah that you know by heart.
- Perform Ruku, which means bowing with both hands on the knees, and say the following three times:
سبحان ربى العظيم.
Subhanah rabbi-ya-al-adheem.
Glory be to God, the greatest”.
- Stand Up again, arms at your sides, and say”
سمع الله لمن حمد.
Sami Allahu Liman Hamidah.
Allah listens to those who praises him.
Then say:
ربنا لك الحمد.
Rabbana Lakal Hamd.
Oh our lord, all praises are to you.
Afterwards say Allahu Akbar.
- Then perform the sujud, where Muslims kneel with palms open on the ground, nose, and forehead touching the ground and they repeat the following three times
سبحان ربى الاعلى.
Subhana rabbi yal A’ala.
“Glory be to God, the highest”.
- Sit down then do another sujud.
- Stand up and repeat the process but this time when you finish the second sujud sit and say the Tashahhud.
التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ السَّلَامُ عَلَى النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللَّهِ الصَّالِحِين. أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ. اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيد
Attahiyyaatu lillaahi wassalawaatu wattayyibatu. Assalaamu ‘alayka ayyuhan-Nabiyyi warahmatullaahi wabarakaatuh. Assalaamu ‘alyna wa ‘ala ‘ibaadillaahis saaliheen. Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illallaah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasooluh.
Allaahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad wa ‘ala aali Muhammad kama sallaita ‘ala Ibraaheem wa ‘ala aali Ibraaheem innaka Hameedun Majeed, wabaarik ‘ala Muhammad wa ‘ala aali Muhamaad kama baarakta ‘ala Ibraaheem wa ‘ala aali Ibraaheem innaka Hameedun Majeed.
Meaning: “All the compliments are for Allah and all the prayers and all the good things (are for Allah). Peace be on you, O Prophet, and Allah’s mercy and blessings (are on you). And peace be on us and on the good (pious) worshipers of Allah. I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and Apostle.
O, Allah! Praise Muhammad, and on the family of Muhammad, as You Praised Ibraaheem and the family of Ibraaheem; you are indeed Worthy of Praise, Full of Glory. And send blessings on Muhammad, and on the family of Muhammad, as you sent blessings on Ibraaheem, and the family of Ibraaheem; you are indeed Worthy of Praise, Full of Glory.”
- When you finish the Tashahhud turn your face to the right and say “Assalamu alaikum Wa Rahmatullah.” Then turn your face to the left and repeat the prayer again. And that’s it.
Did you know that praying in the congregation has many rewards? The prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said:
“The prayer offered in congregation is twenty-five times more superior (in reward) to the prayer offered alone in one’s house or in a business center, because if one performs ablution and does it perfectly, and then proceeds to the mosque with the sole intention of praying, then for each step which he takes towards the mosque, Allah upgrades him a degree in reward and (forgives) crosses out one sin till he enters the mosque.
When he enters the mosque he is considered in prayer as long as he is waiting for the prayer and the angels keep on asking for Allah’s forgiveness for him and they keep on saying: ‘O Allah! Be Merciful to him, O Allah! Forgive him, as long as he keeps on sitting at his praying place and does not pass wind.” [Bukhari Book 1 Volume 8 Hadith 466]
Conclusion.
We have learned what to say when going, entering, and leaving the masjid. And here are they:
On your way to the mosque recite:
اللّهُـمَّ اجْعَـلْ في قَلْبـي نورا ، وَفي لِسـاني نورا، وَاجْعَـلْ في سَمْعي نورا، وَاجْعَـلْ في بَصَري نورا، وَاجْعَـلْ مِنْ خَلْفي نورا، وَمِنْ أَمامـي نورا، وَاجْعَـلْ مِنْ فَوْقـي نورا ، وَمِن تَحْتـي نورا.اللّهُـمَّ أَعْطِنـي نورا.
“O Allah, place light in my heart, and on my tongue light, and in my ears light and in my sight light, and above me light, and below me light, and to my right light, and to my left light, and before me light and behind me light. When entering the Masjid recite the entering the masjid Dua as follows:

“I take refuge with Allah, The Supreme and with His Noble Face, and His eternal authority from the accursed devil. In the name of Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open the gates of Your mercy for me.”
Or recite:
اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
“O Allah, open the gates of Your mercy for me.”
When leaving the Mosque recite:
بِسْمِ اللهِ، وَالصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَّامُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ، اللَّهُمَّ إَنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ، اللَّهُمَّ اعصِمْنِي مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
“In the Name of Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, I ask for Your favor, O Allah, protect me from Satan the outcast.”
