According to the scholars, al maun surah was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) in Mecca. It was the surah number 17 in the order of revelation, after Surah al-Takathur and before al-Kafirun. Ibn ‘Abbas said that part of this Surah was revealed in Mecca while the other part was revealed in Madina because there were no hypocrites in Mecca, that’s why he thinks that the other part was revealed in Madina.

How to memorize surah Maun?

The first thing you should do is to read the full surah slowly, as follows:

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Bismillah hir rahman nir Raheem

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

Ara ‘aytal lazee yukazzibu bidden

Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?

Fazaalikal lazee yadu’ul-yateem

For that is the one who drives away the orphan

Wa la yahuddu ‘alaa ta’aamil miskeen

And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.

Fa wailul-lil musalleen

So woe to those who pray

Allazeena hum ‘an salaatihim saahoon

[But] who are heedless of their prayer –

Allazeena hum yuraaa’oon

Those who make show [of their deeds]

Wa yamna’oonal maa’oon

And withhold [simple] assistance.

Then take the first verse and repeat it a couple of times, then try to recite it by heart, when you make it move to the second verse and repeat the process. When you finish memorizing it, try to recite the two verses by heart, and if you succeed go to the next verse, and when you finish the third verse recite the three verses by heart and to the same until you memorize the full surah.

 Surah Maun benefits:

There are many benefits to us when we recite surah Maun and here are some of those benefits:

Imam Muhammad Baqir said: “He who recites it (Surah Ma’un) in his obligatory and optional prayers, Allah accepts his prayers and his fasting, and does not count the (evil) acts he committed in this world. The sins of those who recite this Surah Al-Maun are forgiven. If recited 100 times after the Fajr Namaz, one remains safe until the next day’s Fajr time.”

Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq said: “that if a person recites Surah Maun 41 times every day, he and his family will remain free from being dependent on others for their sustenance. (It is recommended that salawaat/Durood O Salam should also be recited after the first and last ten times)

Whoso recites this surah in his obligatory and optional salats, his fasts and salats would, inshallah, be approved, and he would not be examined for the misdeeds he has done in the world; and in this world he would by protected by Allah as long as the zakat -payers are paying the zakat.”

In which para is surah al maun?

It’s the surah number 107 and it’s in the Juz 30, with only seven verses.

Surah maun tafseer

First, here is Surah Al-Ma’un or as some call it sura al maoon.

Bismillah hir rahman nir Raheem

Ara ‘aytal lazee yukazzibu bidden

Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?

Fazaalikal lazee yadu’ul-yateem

For that is the one who drives away the orphan

Wa la yahuddu ‘alaa ta’aamil miskeen

And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.

Fa wailul-lil musalleen

So woe to those who pray

[But] who are heedless of their prayer –

Allazeena hum yuraaa’oon

Those who make show [of their deeds]

Wa yamna’oonal maa’oon

And withhold [simple] assistance.

Surah al Maun tafsir:

This surah starts with a question about the people who deny the truth and the ones who miss treating the orphans and the poor.

Muslims should give the orphans their due and treat them with kindness, and if anyone does otherwise, they will be judged by Allah.

Also, as Muslims one of the main things we should do is to feed the poor and help the ones in need as long as we are capable of doing so. So make charity part of your life and don’t say I’m not capable of helping others, because when you help someone in need, Allah will help you.

Then the other part of Surah Al maun: So woe to those who pray.

Ibn ‘Abbas and others have said, “This means the hypocrites who pray in public but do not pray in private.” Thus, Allah says,

[But] who are heedless of their prayer.

This verse might be referring to delaying the prayers or not fulfilling its pillars and conditions.

Those who make show [of their deeds].

This refers to the people who only do good things like praying, helping the poor, and so on in public just to show everyone what they are doing.

And withhold [simple] assistance.

This verse refers to anyone who doesn’t do any action of kindness that will help others.
