What is surah taha about?

Surah taha was revealed to the prophet in Mecca, the surah tells the full story of the prophet Moses in more than 80 verses of the surah, whereas the whole number of verses in this surah is 135. Also, the story of Adam and Eve is mentioned in the surah and how Satan managed to tempt them to eat from the Forbidden Tree.

Surah taha meaning

Sura ta ha tells the story of the prophet Moses, and here are some of the verses that mention the story:

١٢ إِنِّي أَنَا رَبُّكَ فَاخْلَعْ نَعْلَيْكَ ۖ إِنَّكَ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى

12 Indeed, I am your Lord, so remove your sandals. Indeed, you are in the sacred valley of Tuwa.

٢٥ قَالَ رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي

25 [Moses] said, “My Lord, expand for me my breast [with assurance]

٢٦ وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي

26 And ease for me my task

٢٧ وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِسَانِي

27 And untie the knot from my tongue

٢٨ يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي

28 That they may understand my speech.

١٠٢ يَوْمَ يُنْفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ ۚ وَنَحْشُرُ الْمُجْرِمِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ زُرْقًا

102 The Day the Horn will be blown. And We will gather the criminals, that Day, blue-eyed.

١٠٣ يَتَخَافَتُونَ بَيْنَهُمْ إِنْ لَبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا عَشْرًا

103 They will murmur among themselves, “You remained not but ten [days in the world].”

١٢٤ وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْ ذِكْرِي فَإِنَّ لَهُ مَعِيشَةً ضَنْكًا وَنَحْشُرُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَعْمَىٰ

124 And whoever turns away from My remembrance – indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind.”

When was surah taha revealed?

Surah ta ha was revealed in Mecca around 615 – 617 AD.

Why was surah taha revealed?

It is said that when Quran was revealed to the prophet he used to pray for so long until his feet swells, therefore Allah revealed the first verses of surah Ta-Ha to order him to be moderate in his worship and not to hurt himself.

Where was surah taha revealed?

Surah taha was revealed in Mecca, it is the surah number 45 in the order of revelation and number 20 in the Quan with 135 verses. It starts in the Juz number 16 and ends in the Juz number 17.

Why the surah was named taha?

Surah taha was named after the first verse, as it starts with the letter TA-HA. It is the surah number 20 in the Quran and it only has 135 verses.

Is surah taha makki or madani?

Surah e taha is a Makki surah, as it was revealed to the prophet in Mecca.

How to memorize surah taha?

To memorize surah taha the first thing you should do is to read the full surah slowly. Then take the first verse and repeat it a couple of times, when you finish, try to recite it by heart. When you make it move to the second verse and repeat the process. When you finish memorizing it, try to recite the two verses by heart, and if you succeed go to the next verse, and when you finish the third verse recite the three verses by heart and do the same until you memorize the full surah.

Hadith on surah taha

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said, “Whoever recites surah Taha will receive the reward of all the Muhajirun and Ansar on the Day of Judgment.”

Surah taha benefits

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said, “Whoever recites surah Taha will receive the reward of all the Muhajirun and Ansar on the Day of Judgment.”

The Prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) said, “Whoever writes surah Taha, places it in a green cloth, and takes it with himself to a proposal of the marriage ceremony, his proposal will be accepted.”

Abu Abdullah Jafar ibn Muhammad said, “Those who do not have suitors or whose proposal of marriage is turned down should write surah Taha, then wash it with water, and pour that water on their face. In this way, Allah will ease their marriage.”

Surah taha Tafseer

Here’s surah al taha Tafsir:

طه ١

Ṭa-Ha.

مَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِتَشْقَىٰٓ ٢

We have not revealed the Quran to you ˹O Prophet˺ to cause you distress,

إِلَّا تَذْكِرَةًۭ لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰ ٣

but as a reminder to those in awe ˹of Allah˺.

تَنزِيلًۭا مِّمَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ ٱلْعُلَى ٤

˹It is˺ a revelation from the One Who created the earth and the high heavens—

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱسْتَوَىٰ ٥

the Most Compassionate, ˹Who is˺ established on the Throne.

لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَمَا تَحْتَ ٱلثَّرَىٰ ٦

To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth and whatever is in between and whatever is underground.

وَإِن تَجْهَرْ بِٱلْقَوْلِ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلسِّرَّ وَأَخْفَى ٧

Whether you speak openly ˹or not˺, He certainly knows what is secret and what is even more hidden.

ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ لَهُ ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ٨

Allah—there is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him. He has the Most Beautiful Names.

وَهَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ ٩

Has the story of Moses reached you ˹O Prophet˺?

إِذْ رَءَا نَارًۭا فَقَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ ٱمْكُثُوٓا۟ إِنِّىٓ ءَانَسْتُ نَارًۭا لَّعَلِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِقَبَسٍ أَوْ أَجِدُ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ هُدًۭى ١٠

When he saw a fire, he said to his family, “Wait here, ˹for˺ I have spotted a fire. Perhaps I can bring you a torch from it, or find some guidance at the fire.”

فَلَمَّآ أَتَىٰهَا نُودِىَ يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ ١١

But when he approached it, he was called, “O Moses!

إِنِّىٓ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكَ فَٱخْلَعْ نَعْلَيْكَ ۖ إِنَّكَ بِٱلْوَادِ ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًۭى ١٢

It is truly I. I am your Lord! So take off your sandals, for you are in the sacred valley of Ṭuwa.

وَأَنَا ٱخْتَرْتُكَ فَٱسْتَمِعْ لِمَا يُوحَىٰٓ ١٣

I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed:

إِنَّنِىٓ أَنَا ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱعْبُدْنِى وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ لِذِكْرِىٓ ١٤

‘It is truly I. I am Allah! There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Me. So worship Me ˹alone˺, and establish prayer for My remembrance.

إِنَّ ٱلسَّاعَةَ ءَاتِيَةٌ أَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا تَسْعَىٰ ١٥

The Hour is sure to come. My Will is to keep it hidden, so that every soul may be rewarded according to their efforts.

فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكَ عَنْهَا مَن لَّا يُؤْمِنُ بِهَا وَٱتَّبَعَ هَوَىٰهُ فَتَرْدَىٰ ١٦

So do not let those who disbelieve in it and follow their desires distract you from it, or you will be doomed.’”

وَمَا تِلْكَ بِيَمِينِكَ يَـٰمُوسَىٰ ١٧

˹Allah added,˺ “And what is that in your right hand, O Moses?”

قَالَ هِىَ عَصَاىَ أَتَوَكَّؤُا۟ عَلَيْهَا وَأَهُشُّ بِهَا عَلَىٰ غَنَمِى وَلِىَ فِيهَا مَـَٔارِبُ أُخْرَىٰ ١٨

He replied, “It is my staff! I lean on it, and with it I beat down ˹branches˺ for my sheep, and have other uses for it.”

قَالَ أَلْقِهَا يَـٰمُوسَىٰ ١٩

فَأَلْقَىٰهَا فَإِذَا هِىَ حَيَّةٌۭ تَسْعَىٰ ٢٠

So he did, then—behold!—it became a serpent, slithering.

Surah taha dua.

Here’s a Dua from taha surah:

1- My Lord! Relieve my mind. And ease my task for me; And loose a knot from my tongue, that they may understand my saying.

2- ”O my Lord ! open my chest for me and

make my task easy for me and

make loose the knot from my tongue

so that they understand my speech”

رَبِّ اشرَح لى صَدرى ﴿٢٥﴾ وَيَسِّر لى أَمرى ﴿٢٦﴾ وَاحلُل عُقدَةً مِن لِسانى ﴿٢٧﴾ يَفقَهوا قَولى
