Surah Qaf is the surah number 50 in the holy Quran, its name came after its first verse, as the Arabic letter ق (qaf) appears at the beginning of the surah.

let’s learn about the benefits of surah Qaf, when and where it was revealed, the reason for revelation, and more.
What are the benefits & lessons of surah Qaf?
The prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) used to recite surah Qaf during Eid prayer and Friday sermons (Khutbah) due to its great significance and the knowledge and information in the surah.

The surah teaches us about the day of resurrection, the rewards of the believers and how they will go to paradise, the punishment of the disbelievers and how they will go to hell, Allah’s powers, and the creation of the earth in 6 days. reciting this surah softens the heart and makes us come closer to Allah.

Imam Ahmad narrated that: “Umar bin Al-Khattab asked Abu Waqid Al-Laythi, “What did the Prophet recite during the `Eid Prayer” Abu Waqid said, “Surah Qaf and Surat Iqtarabat [Surat Al-Qamar].”

Imam Ahmad narrated that Umm Hisham bint Harithah said, “I memorized Surah Qaf from the tongue of the Messenger of Allah who used to recite it every Friday while standing on the Minbar delivering the Friday sermon to the people.”
Why was surah qaf revealed?
Surah al qaf is the surah number 50 in the holy Quran. It was revealed to the prophet during the early stages of revelation when he was at Mecca. It was revealed to tell the people about the day of resurrection. Allah says in the holy Quran:

“˹Will we be returned to life,˺ when we are dead and reduced to dust? Such a return is impossible.”

But the people of Quraysh didn’t believe in the day of resurrection and denied what the prophet said.

“In fact, they reject the truth when it has come to them, so they are in a confused state.”

Therefore, the following verses discuss Allah’s powers and how he created the world. Allah says in surah Qaf:

“Have they not then looked at the sky above them: how We built it and adorned it ˹with stars˺, leaving it flawless?”

“As for the earth, We spread it out and placed upon it firm mountains, and produced in it every type of pleasant plant”

“˹all as˺ an insight and a reminder to every servant who turns ˹to Allah˺.”

“And We send down blessed rain from the sky, bringing forth gardens and grains for harvest,”

“and towering palm trees ˹loaded˺ with clustered fruit”

Then Allah shows the prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the same thing happened in the past, with all the prophets.

“Before them, the people of Noah denied ˹the truth,˺ as did the people of the Water-pit,1 Thamûd,”

“’ Ȃd, Pharaoh, the kinfolk of Lot,”

“the residents of the Forest and the people of Tubba’.2 Each rejected ˹their˺ messenger, so My warning was fulfilled.”

The rest of the surah shows us what will happen in the day of resurrection, and wars the disbelievers of what will happen to them. Also, Allah comforts the believers and tells them about their rewards.

“who were in awe of the Most Compassionate without seeing ˹Him˺,1 and have come with a heart turning ˹only to Him˺.”

“Enter it in peace. This is the Day of eternal life!”

“There they will have whatever they desire, and with Us is ˹even˺ more.”

surah al qaf Tafseer.
Here’s the tafsir of the first five verses:

“1. Qaf. By the Glorious Qur’an. 2. Nay, they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves. So the disbelievers say: “This is a strange thing!” 3. “When we are dead and have become dust. (Shall we be resurrected) That is a far return.” 4. We know that which the earth takes of them, and with Us is a Book preserved. 5. Nay, but they have denied the truth when it has come to them, so they are in a Marij state.”

(Qaf.) which is one of the letters of the alphabet that are mentioned at the beginning of some Surahs.

(Qaf. By the Glorious Qur’an. Nay, they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves. So the disbelievers say: “This is a strange thing!”) They wondered at the wisdom behind sending a Messenger who is a human being.

(When we are dead and have become dust. That is a far return.) They said, `after we die, disintegrate, with our organs torn apart and we become dust, how can we be brought back to our original shape and bodies,’

(That is a far return.) `it is not likely that it will ever occur.’ They thought that Resurrection was far from happening and will never occur. Allah the Exalted responded to their statement by saying,

(We know that which the earth takes of them.) meaning, `We know what the earth consumes of their dead bodies.’ Where and how the bodies disintegrated, what they turned into, and how they have become, all of this is never absent from Allah’s knowledge.

(Nay, but they have denied the truth when it has come to them, so they are in a Marij state.) This is the state of all those who defy the Truth: whatever they say and utter after denying the Truth, is utterly false. Marij means, in disarray, in a confused state, and defying the characteristics of the Truth.
