Deep Dive into Quranic Studies at Noor Academy

Quranic Studies or Ulumul Qur’an is the field that focuses on learning and understanding the verses and surahs of the Quran, their tafsir, related hadiths their meanings, and the rules of tajweed.

Allah said in the holy Quran:

وَرَتِّلِ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلًا ٤

“Recite the Quran ˹properly˺ in a measured way.” [Al-Muzzammil, 4]

As Muslims we are instructed to recite the holy Quran and learn from its verses. It is our source of guidance and light; it shows us how to live our lives as real believers. The only way to do so is through understanding the meaning of the verses, not just reading them without understanding them, because if so, how will we be guided?

What is Quranic studies?

Quranic studies course consists of a combination of subjects that help you understand the verses and surahs of the Quran. For instance, you will learn the Tafsir of the Quran, why the verses or surah were revealed, and what do we learn from it. You will also learn the right recitation of the holy Quran and what is called tajweed rules, which help you recite the Quran just like our beloved prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do.

The verses of the holy Quran cure the heart and guide us, bringing us closer to Allah. Allah said in the holy Quran: “O mankind, there has come to you an advice from your Lord and a cure for what is in your hearts, and guidance and mercy for the believers.” (Quran, 10:57)

 

What will you learn in a Quranic studies course?

Whenever you feel down or you can’t keep going Always remember:

مَنْ سَلَكَ طَرِيقًا يَلْتَمِسُ فِيهِ عِلْمًا سَهَّلَ اللهُ لَهُ بِهِ طَرِيقًا إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ

“He who treads the path in search of knowledge, Allah would make that path easy, leading to Paradise for him.”

You chose to take a Muslim course and learn Quranic studies to get closer to Allah, to understand his guidance and message, therefore, Allah will ease it for you, just like he Always does. What is required form you is to stay positive, not to let anything bring you down, don’t compare your level with other people, and keep your eyes on your goal and how far you got since you started.

Here are what you will learn throughout the course: 

1. Quran recitation and Tajweed.

The meaning of the word tajweed is “proficiency” or “doing something well”. In short, Tajweed Quran is the rules we follow while reciting the verses of the holy Quran to ease the recitation and help us read them correctly like the prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) and his companions used to do.

Tajweed refers to the rules that guide you to the right recitation of the holy Quran. in the Quranic studies course, you will learn the Arabic Alphabet and how to pronounce them. Then you will learn the different rules of Tajweed like Madd and Idgham.

Through the Nooracademy course, you will learn each rule and practice how to use it with a professional tutor. Then you will recite Quranic verses to enhance your recitation and the tutor will guide you along the way.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Whoever recites a letter of the book of Allah (Quran) will be credited with a good deed “Hasanah” and a good deed is multiplied into ten Hasanat. I do not say that the word: Alif Laam Meem is counted as a word letter. Rather, Alif is a letter, Laam is a letter and Meem is a letter.”

Whatever the answer you are searching for you will find it in the holy Quran, as it carries many lessons o us all.

Allah said in the Quran: “And we have certainly presented for the people in this Quran from every example that they might remember.” (Surah 29, verse 27).

2. Quran and Tafsir.

The Arabic word tafsir or Tafseer means interpretation or explanation. It also comes from the Arabic word Fassara which means to clarify or explain. Now, what does the Quran tafsir mean? It means to explain the meaning of the Quranic verses without making any mistakes in the Arabic syntax, grammar, literature, and Quranic sciences.

The Holy Quran was sent to guide humans to the right path and to cure all diseases. The verses of the Holy Quran show us what happened in the past and the stories of the prophets. The Quranic verses also show us how we were created and the purpose of our lives.

Through the Quranic studies course, you will understand the verses of the Holy Quran and their tafsir. Understanding the true meaning of the Quranic verses will eliminate all the doubts you once had. Plus, you get to teach Quran to other people around you, remember, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessing be upon him) said: “The best of you are the ones who learn the Quran and teach it to others.” (Bukhari)

3. Hadeeth
